About three weeks ago I posted about a guitar that needed an intervention.
Built by another luthier about 8 years ago, the guitar (a double top) has many issues. The most sever one being the action… the height of the strings above the fingerboard. The top is bulging and the strings barely even touched the bone saddle on the bridge.
I did two things to make it playable. I lowered the bridge and saddle, and I also drilled an extra hole in the tieblock for each string to increase the breakover angle at the saddle.
The guitar now has a playable action: 3mm on the treble E and 4mm on the bass E.
