A couple of years ago, I had a commission from young player and his family. The player’s Saul Domingos-Morales. His teacher is Hanh Nguyen. The guitar seems to have helped Saul get to the next level. (Well at least it didn’t hurt 🙂 He won a local competition and was offered the opportunity perform a concerto, Concierto de Aranjuez by Rodrigo. It was a beautiful Spring day, and Hanh and I walked from her office at the Vancouver Academy of Music, to the Orpheum Theatre. On the way, we picked up some flowers. Hanh had to have just the right paper on them, so she could present them to Saul immediately after the performance.
Saul did a great job with the performance of the second movement. The venue was a blast. The weather was great. I showed a new guitar to some friends. Lunch out with a friend….Life is good!
